Program Overview:
The ESL in International Trade program focuses on improving students' English communication skills while introducing concepts and vocabulary of international trade. The program covers many topics; including
- International Trade - history and rationale
- International Trade Management - WTO and international trade agreements
- Government Assistance to Exporters - information and money
- Government Regulations - procedures and documentation
- Methods of International Payment and Collection
- Negotiating - with suppliers and customers
- Transportation Logistics
- Entrepreneurship
- Business Plans - marketing and finance
The program introduces students to the challenging and interesting world of international trade. Assignments and exercises help students to improve their competence and confidence in English communication. Students practice the business skills of teamwork, negotiation and presentations throughout the program. Also, students read and discuss selected case studies of import and export businesses.
Admission requirement
- Intermediate level of English or higher
- Completion of RCIIS BC program
Resources
Students receive a textbook, student hand-outs and a detailed reference list of online resources.
Students may use RCIIS's library of business books.
