Career Objective: To work for one of Globe Fortune 500 companies after graduation in Canada

My title at Ricoh was Marketing Analyst. Main duty was to research Canadian Education Market to help propose penetration strategy for company to grow profit in the long run. Daily responsibilities involve Internet research, report generation, as well as presentation to senior executives.

Internship at Ricoh was an awesome learning experience, especially for individuals like me who just got out of school with a fresh mind. It rewarded me with a completed skill set, which I believe everybody would need in order to succeed in Canadian professional environment. The most crucial skills demanded in my job are analytical skill, interpersonal skill and presentation skill.

At Ricoh, managers expected me to research independently and be able to follow instruction based on the previous decided objectives. Fortunately, I learned to leverage my analytical skill by picking out the most relevant information and digging into the information with a critical approach. But only analytical skill would not be enough to survive. Here came interpersonal skill for the information I need within company to generate a good report.

Everyday, I talked to different employees from various departments to help myself make decision that matches the company’s current vision and capability. Ricoh’s family environment contributes a lot in my success to communicate with my colleagues. Employees here were very much willing to help on their specialties. I would say my performance wouldn’t be stand out without their helps.

Finally the exciting time arrived, which was presentation to senior executives. It was a priceless experience I have ever gained during my internship. By exchanging ideas with senior executives, I practiced and improved my presentation skill to a broader extent. And good thing came the last: after the presentation, I received a special postcard from our Vice President at Ricoh. On the card, it said “…Very good insights…Keep up the great work.” Thanks for this encouraging surprise, which made me more confident in both my work and my future career.
