English Through Media

Learn authentic, modern English exactly as it’s spoken in hit TV series and blockbuster movies. Students will learn everyday slang & Idioms and master natural, conversational phrases used by native speakers. Take your English to the next level by understanding the humour, references, and social dynamics behind North American pop culture. Students will analyze clips from popular shows and discuss storylines, characters, etc. Students will also act out scenes and practice real-life scenarios (social events, casual chats, and more) using newly acquired vocabulary.

Students will explore popular TV series and movies to gain new vocabulary

Evaluation

There is no formal evaluation in this class. However, students are expected to actively participate in all activities, contribute to group work, and complete assigned tasks. Informal feedback will be provided regularly by the teacher to support student progress.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is an integral part of this class. Students who miss more than 3 days per session will find it very difficult to improve or keep up.

The teacher will copy handouts for the students to complete during the class.
Various websites will be used for video clips.
